1950’S. Campground and gathering place for Finns in Reedley CA,
outside of Fresno. Event weekends staged four times each summer:
Memorial Day, 4th of July, August Golf weekend, Labor Day. Up to 300
Finns attend these gathering, where highlights include sauna and
river rafting.

Finlandia Foundation – National Chapter
Started in 1953 to promote
Finnish culture. Main work is focused on fundraising for grants and
Saunalahti. Based out of history museum in Pasadena. Produced a DVD
of Finnish history and their tupa which is available for other
Finnish organizations to show their members free of charge.

SCAN
– Scandinavian Center at Nansen Field
Started in 1947 as a
Norwegian Seamen’s church. Operates a clubhouse in Palos Verdes. All
5 Scandinavian chambers of commerce are members. The facility is
available for rent for events.

American Scandinavian Foundation
Started in 1939 as a
pan-Scandinavian organization to promote friendship between
Scandinavia and the US. Organizes the Scandinavian Festival each
fall, this year for the 24th time. Also run a scholarship program
and sponsor and co-sponsor other cultural events. Started the
Scandinavian Film Festival 8 years ago.
